MOST WOULDN'T MAKE THE TREK TO THE NORTH POLE FOR EITHER LOVE OR MONEY. WE DID IT FOR BOTH!

WHAT'S NEXT?
THE SOUTH POLE OF COURSE!

When you consider that we honeymooned on a mountain top, then there really is no denying that we do this for love. But while climbing that same mountain, we raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Altruvest Charitable Services. In April 2007 we skied to the Geographic North Pole and stood at the top of the world - once again raising interest in, and awareness of, and money for, Altruvest to support all the great work they do!

ROB AND KATRINA FOLLOWS

After standing on the roof of the world atop Mount Everest in May 2006, Rob and Katrina set their sites on another kind of summit... standing at the most northerly point on the planet... the Geographic North Pole located at 90 degrees true north!

POLE TO POLE- THE TRIP TO THE TOP

One of the trickiest bits of planning this trip to the pole was figuring out exactly where to start. For all kinds of natural reasons the 'worldabove' is in a constant state of flux. Ice floes and ice packs move significant distances and it wasn't until we landed at Barneo Ice Station that we had an exact idea of how far we would have to ski. It turned out to be almost a whole parallel, or 125kms from the 89th to the 90th degree.

TRAVEL TIPS:

SUNSCREEN AND SCARF: We travelled during the arctic summer and the sun never set during our stay. That said, we still experienced temperatures as low as -45 C (bitter winds however made it feel a great deal colder!).
